Dogbox 2.4.1 — see the transactions behind any account

8 October 2026

Dogbox Accounting 2.4.1 is out. It's a small update: one feature that's handy before your BAS is due, and one fix we owe you. To update, open the app and click Update on the banner at the top.

See the transactions behind any account

In the Chart of Accounts, click an account and its transactions now appear under the account details. Each line has its date, reference, description, debit and credit, with a running balance from the opening balance to the closing balance.

It's the quickest way to answer "why is this balance what it is?" Before you lodge, open GST Collected and GST Paid and check that every line belongs there. It's just as useful when an expense account looks too high, or a bank account doesn't match the statement.

The July–September BAS is due on 28 October if you lodge it yourself.

Report an Issue works again

We've just been reminded that software is never quite finished. We found an annoying bug that needed fixing, and the irony isn't lost on us: the bug was that bug reporting was broken. It's fixed now.

If you tried Settings → Help → Report an Issue in the last few weeks and got "HTTP Error 401", we're sorry. Every report was failing, so none of them reached us. In 2.4.1, reports go to the Dogbox licence server, which passes them on to us.

A report includes what you type, your Dogbox version, your operating system and the last 30 lines of the app's log, so we can see what went wrong. If you sent a report that didn't get through, please send it again after updating, or email dogboxsoftware@gmail.com.
